25 April 2006 (Tuesday)

oh happy day

Much as I suspected, there are two good reasons to celebrate today.

1 - It's Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's (who, I must point out, grew up in Merrick, NY)!

2 - It's my second blogiversary!

Mazal tov! You were my inspiration for starting a blog, so thank you also for sharing the blogginess. (Good grief, now I'm starting to sound like the RenReb...)

Happy blogiversary, a day late... and they did? really? How'd I miss that one? Any other cool people grow up in my hometown (besides the one and only Shanna, who only sort of did) that I didn't know about?

Um...Debbie Gibson? And, yes, B & J met in gym class at Merrick Avenue Junior High School (now Merrick Ave Middle School, which doesn't sound as cool). If you visit the factory in Vermont, on the timeline outside you'll see little cartoon figures wearing "Merrick JHS" t-shirts, and they mention the school (and I think show a photo of it) in the video that starts off the factory tour.

Happy blogiversary!

but it's very disappointing to hear about free ice cream 3 days late :-(

Nah, I knew about Debbie. Denise was in my 7th grade health class. (Denise Gibson, her sister, and said class was obviously at MAJHS.) I remember someone commenting to her about her sister having a record signing at, umm, that little music store in the Holiday Park Shopping Center? (Said music store may or may not still be there, considering that shopping center housed A&P at the time, not Waldbaums)

And Amy whats-her-name (the Long Island Lolita) was technically from Bellmore, but she ruined my senior year. Well, maybe just complicated things.

No way. Amy Fisher was most definitely from Merrick - the Hewlett peninsula, I think.
