for shame
Two more IDF soldiers caught looting homes in Gush Katif:
Two Israel Defense Forces soldiers were caught Tuesday trying to loot the evacuated homes of settlers in the Gush Katif settlement of Pe'at Sadeh. This is the third time soldiers have been caught attempting to loot homes in that settlement this week.* * *
According to IDF officials, the soldiers have already admitted their guilt....
Two soldiers from the Givati Brigade were caught on Sunday night trying to steal home appliances from evacuated Pe'at Sadeh homes. Evacuated residents who had returned to their homes to remove equipment they had left behind complained when they saw other houses had been broken into and looted.
Add one to the list:
- A Jew doesn't expel a Jew.
- A Jew doesn't restrict the freedom of movement of a Jew who wishes to voluntarily comply with government orders.
- A Jew doesn't throw acid into an Israeli police officer's eyes.
- A Jew doesn't spray caustic gas onto an IDF soldier's back.
- A Jew doesn't throw urine, paint, stones, cleaning fluids, or pretty much anything except confetti at an IDF soldier.
- A Jew, particularly one representing the government, doesn't loot from the home of a recently displaced Jew.
- A Jew doesn't (chas v'chalila) kill a Jew.
From your mouth to everyone's ears.
how about
* A Jew does not rejoice in the downfall of his brother or sister.
Good addition, AT. Though I have to say that I have yet to see any actual rejoicing on the part of Jews.
People are people... this is an awful reminder of the fire trucks that were unearthed after the WTC was excevated, fire trucks full of looted Gap jeans and other merchandise from the stores in the undergound mall. Is it awful? Yes. Is it rare? I fear that getting caught is the only rare part of these crimes.
Alas, Shanna, I have quite a diverse group of "friends", and a small minority have expressed
a certain smug satisfaction in what is going on, adding comments to the effect of "they knew what they were getting themselves into when they moved there", "they're being compensated", and "instead of complaining about being kicked out, they should be grateful to the soldiers who guarded them all these years".
How about a Jew doesn't commit terrorist acts? (Re: the 19yr old and the older man)
Also: A Jew doesn't give away his friend's home; especially after telling him to live there; and especially for nothing in return.

Heck, I'd agree with all of that, right down to the smug satisfaction, but wouldn't see it as "rejoicing in the downfall of [a] brother or sister."
Otherwise, "a Jew doesn't expel a Jew" is a mythical and newly-invented proposition, and really a remarkably hypocritical basis for resistance; all this time, they've claimed that the expulsion of our Palestinian cousins doesn't matter 'cause they were there only for a historically insignificant amount of time... but relocating those who were there for an even shorter amount of time is comparable to the Holocaust? Ohhhhkaaaaay.
As for "A Jew doesn't kill a Jew," we're way past that, Rabin being the most obvious example.

You mean when Rabin ordered his men to open fire on a group of Holocaust survivors coming ashore at Tel Aviv, or were you referring to Rabin being behind the murder of Chaim Dahan?
Same difference. The point stands.
